Bronzer

With a bronzer, a few sweeps give your skin the warmth of a day in the sun. It works instantly, doesn't sink in like self-tanner and simply comes off again in the evening. You might know it as bronzing powder, but bronzer hasn't been just a powder for a long time.

Bronzer: a sun-kissed glow for your whole face

What types of bronzer are there?

  • Powder bronzer: the classic. Easy to build, great for normal to oily skin and ideal over a powdered base.
  • Cream bronzer: melts into your skin for a soft, natural finish. Lovely on dry or normal skin.
  • Liquid bronzer: liquid bronzers and bronzing drops you apply on their own or mix with your foundation or day cream.
  • Bronzer stick: a creamy formula in stick form, handy to take with you for quick touch-ups.
  • Bronzer palettes: several shades in one, often combined with contour, blush or highlighter.

How do you apply bronzer?

Apply bronzer where the sun naturally hits your face: the top of your forehead along your hairline, your cheekbones, the bridge of your nose and your jawline. Start with a little product, work powder in with a large brush and blend cream with your fingers or a sponge. You'll find the right brush in bronzer and contour brushes. Choose a colour one or two shades darker than your skin to keep the result natural.

Bronzer or contour: what's the difference?

Bronzer adds warmth and colour, contour adds shadow and shape. A bronzer usually has a warm undertone and is applied broadly where the light falls. Contour is cooler in tone, so it looks like a real shadow in the hollow beneath your cheekbones. Want to properly sculpt your face? Take a look at contouring.

Which finish suits you?

A matte bronzer looks the most natural and works well if your skin gets shiny quickly or if you also want to use it as a soft contour. Shimmer, sheen or a dewy finish catches the light for a summery glow. Finish your look with a touch of blush on your cheeks and highlighter on the high points of your cheekbones.
