Waterproof Eyeliner
Waterproof eyeliner: stays put through sweat, tears and rain
A waterproof eyeliner is built to stay where you put it. The formula repels moisture, so sweat, tears, rain and a hot day will not make your line run. That is the difference with a regular eyeliner, which can transfer under your lower lash line after a few hours. At Boozyshop you will find over 95 waterproof eyeliners, in pencil, gel, liquid and pen.
What is the difference between waterproof and smudge proof?
Waterproof means your liner can handle moisture. Smudge proof or transfer proof means it will not move when you rub it or when your own lid presses against it. If your lids get oily quickly, or your lid sits slightly over your lash line, you actually want both. A gel formula usually manages that better than a classic pencil.
Which format suits you?
The biggest group is the waterproof eye pencils and kajals, over 60 of them. Those are the easiest for your waterline and for a soft line you can still smudge out. The Kohl Kajal Waterproof from Catrice is the best known here, with shades from deep black to baby blue. Almost forty of those pencils are gel pencils: just as easy to hold, but with a more intense colour payoff, like the 20H Ultra Precision Gel Eye Pencil from Catrice and the Stay & Play Gel Eyeliner from Essence. If you want a sharp line or a crisp wing instead, go for a waterproof liquid eyeliner or eyeliner pen. We have thirty of those, including the Superfine Eyeliner Pen Waterproof and Liquid Ink Eyeliner Waterproof from Essence and the Epic Wear liners from NYX.
How to apply a waterproof eyeliner
A waterproof formula dries faster, so you only have a short window to correct. Work in small dashes along your lash line and join them up afterwards, instead of drawing one long stroke in one go. An angled cotton bud with a little remover on it is your friend for the final tidy up. And on a clean, oil free lid it grips better.
Waterproof eyeliner on your waterline
On your waterline, only use a pencil or kajal, never a liquid liner. A soft kajal is made for that inner rim of your lid, a liquid eyeliner is not.
Removing a waterproof eyeliner
Water alone will not do it, and that is exactly the point of waterproof. Use an oil based cleanser or a biphase remover. Hold a cotton pad on your closed eye for a few seconds, let it soak in and then wipe gently outwards. That way you do not rub, and your lashes stay put.
