Gel polish at Boozyshop: weeks of flawless nails

Want perfectly painted nails that last for weeks without chipping? Gel polish is the answer. It is a tough, long-wear polish that cures under a UV or LED lamp, so your manicure stays put for 10 to 14 days on average. This page holds all the gel polish colours; base coats, top coats and lamps have their own collections.

Gel polish or gel nail polish: what is the difference?

None — they are two names for the same thing: a polish that cures under a lamp and lasts for weeks. Do not confuse it with regular nail polish, which air-dries and needs no lamp. Want the gel look without a lamp? Take a look at nail wraps.

How do you apply gel polish?

It works a little differently from regular polish, but you will get the hang of it quickly:

  1. Lightly buff your nails so the polish grips better.
  2. Apply a thin layer of base coat and cure it under your lamp.
  3. Apply a thin layer of colour and cure. Repeat for extra coverage if needed.
  4. Seal your manicure with a top coat and cure again.
  5. Remove the sticky layer with a cleanser.

Work in thin layers and cure each one properly. That keeps your gel polish looking good for longer and prevents bubbles and lifting edges.

How do you remove gel polish?

  1. File off the shiny top coat.
  2. Soak a cotton pad in gel polish remover and place it on the nail.
  3. Wrap your nails in foil and leave for 10 to 15 minutes.
  4. Gently push the loosened polish away with a cuticle stick.
  5. Buff away any residue and finish with a nail oil.

Never peel or scrape the polish off — that damages your natural nail.

HEMA-free gel polish

Do your cuticles get irritated easily, or are you sensitive to acrylates? Then HEMA-free gel polish is the safer choice. HEMA is the acrylate that most often causes allergic reactions. At Boozyshop a large part of the gel polish range is HEMA-free.

Which lamp do you need?

You need a UV or LED lamp to cure gel polish. Most formulas work with both, but always check. UV lamps take slightly longer; LED lamps are faster. If your polish stops curing properly, your lamp is probably due for replacement. All UV/LED lamps are in their own collection.

Everything for your gel manicure

Tips for a long-lasting manicure

  • Always work in thin layers and cure each one fully.
  • Keep the polish off your cuticles: it prevents allergies and lifting.
  • Cap the free edge of the nail to stop chipping.
  • Look after your nails and cuticles daily with nail oil.
